- Eat a healthy diet filled with fruits and vegetables, especially dark green veggies,
- and orange and red fruits/veggies. Reducing sodium and sugar, as hypertension
- and diabetes, are two highest risk factors for eye diseases. Reduce saturated fats
- and eliminate trans fats. Get foods rich in lutein and zeaxanthin, which nourish your
- macula and help in filtering sunlight and blue light!! Add omega 3 supplements ,
- Zinc, Copper and enhance nourishment to your eyes!
- Keep hydrated! All eyes have natural tears, and dehydration can cause
- Dry Eye Syndrome and other conditions that can affect your vision and health of your eyes.
- Exercise as tolerated. This enhances circulation to your eyes, bringing water and nutrients.
- Get an annual eye exam each year and as needed. This can help detect eye diseases like glaucoma, cataracts,
- retinal detachment and others, early, to reduce complications .
- Keep your hands very clean, before touching your eyes, report any problem to your eye doctor, right away.
- Get screened for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, computer /digital eye strain and dry eye syndrome early, to be treated and prevent serious complications...like blindness!!.
- Wear protective eye wear especially : in sunlight, at work with eye injury risks, when driving and in other high risk situations.
- Get adequate sleep and rest each day.
- Quit alcohol/Quit smoking !/ Quit illegal drugs! Some prescription meds can affect vision, read your labels.
